What a beautiful Tuesday! You should already be in a good mood because of that, but you'll probably be in a better mood if you watch New Girl tonight. The freshman comedy from FOX continues to be delightful and downright hilarious at times. Zooey Deschanel shines in the series, but the rest of the cast is terrific as well. Jake Johnson and Max Greenfield in particular also bring big laughs on the show.
Last week on New Girl, in "Injured," after Jess hurt Nick during a friendly neighborhood game of football, she felt bad and insisted on taking him to see her doctor friend since he couldn't afford to see a doctor otherwise. Nick didn't want to go because he doesn't have insurance and couldn't afford the bill. Unfortunately for Nick, Jess insisted and her friend happened to be a gynecologist. The doctor friend "unofficially" gave Nick pain meds for his back, but she also thought she detected swelling in this thyroid. With a ultrasound scheduled for the next day Nick went to work, but his worried roommates followed him there. After making the mistake of looking up thyroid swelling on their smartphones, the group decided that Nick would have cancer and die. After getting him drunk, Jess talked Nick into doing something he hadn't done before. She told him he never does anything, only being so harsh because he told her to stop being nice and happy all the time. Nick agreed and they took him to dive into the ocean at night because he never had. He quickly freaked out and ran back out, and everyone fell asleep on the beach. When Schmidt was freaking out Cece confessed to him that her father died of cancer when she was young and told him you just have to deal with it. The next morning the whole group drove in Winston's beater to take Nick to the doctor. Nick returned to tell them that it wasn't cancer and was probably just a cyst. Everyone was happy and when Nick took out his non-wallet, a Ziplock baggy with his money and license, he told the woman he would have to pay in paper money and change. She told him the bill was already paid for, and Jess informed him the whole group of friends had split the bill. The group then went out to leave in Winston's beater, which he had driven until the bumper and hood were bungied in place because it was falling apart. When his ride wouldn't start everyone got out to walk and Winston finally decided to leave his junker for good.
On tonight's New Girl, "Control," after Jess realizes that Schmidt is unfairly doing all of the housework, she pushes him to "go on strike," and the entire ecosystem of the loft is thrown off balance. Meanwhile, Nick scrambles when he must pay up to Winston after losing a poker game.
