This evening the 2012 White House Correspondents' Dinner, or the Popularized slang name Nerd Prom, occurred in Washington D.C.
To begin the evening's festivities, a celebrity-studded red carpet took place in the lobby of the Washington Hilton Hotel, which was also the location for the pre-parties, dinner and speeches. The red-carpet was undeniably gridlocked with Hollywood A-list overload!
"The association holds an annual dinner to raise money for WHCA scholarships and honor the professional recipients of the WHCA's Journalism Awards. Proceeds from the White House Correspondents' Association annual dinner go toward scholarships and awards that recognize aspiring and accomplished journalists." (Statement obtained via WHCA online outlet.)
Additionally, at this political event, the First couple stylishly attended; and the President made a (comical and serious) speech on behalf of the country and cause. Late-night comic Jimmy Kimmel headlined Washington D.C.'s glitziest event.
Other famous faces that graced press cameras on the red carpet included: Kim Kardashian, The beautiful businesswoman Ivanka Trump, Momager Mogul Kris Jenner, Actress Lindsay Lohan, Actress Dakota Fanning, Singer Mary J. Blige, Actress Reese Witherspoon, Actress Elizabeth Banks, Anchor/Oprah's BFF Gayle King, Actress Sigourney Weaver, Zooey Deschanel, singer John Legend, Actor George Clooney, Actress Malin Akerman, Actress Kate Hudson, Actress Eva Longoria, Elle MacPherson, Actress Sofía Vergara, Glee actor Matthew Morrison, designer Tory Burch and Journalist Barbara Walters.
Even celebrities must obtain a ticket to attend this Dinner. They are able to do so, by being inviting by major press outlets. For example, Fox media outlet invited Kim Kardashian, her mother and Lindsay Lohan, and Uggie, the dog from the hit 2011 film The Artist, was invited by the Washington Times!
