Nick Miller. While Schmidt acts all Alpha male and stuff in the loft, Nick is a natural leader. Wasn't he who pushed to give Winston's slot in the apartment to Jess? For a while I wished he and Jess would hit it off, but that never happened. The loft ecosystem would go bonkers if they did, so hear this, MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR A GOOD REASON. Besides, he and Julia are sure to be heading somewhere (AFAIK. Still catching up on several eps).

Winston Bishop. Remember the Ensembells ep? That sticks out, gave me an LSS over "Eye of the Tiger," and an understanding of Winston's nature. The guy picks up skills too easily, and he gets bored with them just as much. I'm friends with people who are like that, so to me, Winston is not just a character to write off.

Schmidt (Who knows his first name?). Who. didn't. love Schmidt? ME! The party bus ep converted me, though Schmidt had to pay a lot for that — 50 dollars in the D-bag jar for the first offenses, yo. This guy's got a lot of vanity issues, is too hygienic to a fault, thinks every beautiful woman likes him, and is a dork for not admitting he's one, which makes him likable.

Cece Meyers. Every Jess out there needs a Cece in their life. A hot model BFF, that is. I keed, I keed.

Now, who's that girl…

Jess Day. I checked out "New Girl" because of Zooey Deschanel, her poker-faced acting, and her dresses. It's like when people would ask me who my fashion influence is, I'd say: It's part Summer Finn, part Jess Day, and all Zooey Deschanel. I even wore hipster glasses like those above for a time. Back to Jess. Her story is full of heart. Everybody wants to be cool and has labels, it's actually no fun embarrassing your dorky self even in small circles. Being yourself is even labeled as dorky.

It's OK if you're like her, it's also OK if you're not. :)

Unbreakable lines:

To Julia: I brake for birds. I rock a lot of polka dots. I have touched glitter in the last 24 hours. I spend my entire day talking to children. And I find it fundamentally strange that you're not a dessert person. It freaks me out. I'm sorry that I don't talk like Murphy Brown. And I hate your pants suit. I wish it had ribbons on it or something just to make it slightly cuter. But that doesn't mean I'm not smart and tough and strong.

To the men: So, you know in horror movies, where the girl's like 'oh my god, there's something in the basement… let me just run down there in my underwear and see what's going on in the dark.' And you're like 'what is your problem? Call the police!' And she's like 'okay!' But it's too late, because she's already getting murdered — well, my story's kinda like that.

To the ex: Suck it, Mr. Krabbs!

It's not "New Girl" without these people.

Tropes in the show.
