Now that the weather is warming up, I encourage you set the books aside for once, head to the lakefill and soak up the sun's rays in some fun and flirty looks. Prepare yourself for 50's silhouettes, bright color blocking, pale pastels, fun patterns and maxi skirts, taking advice from the incomparable Zooey Deschanel.
Let's envision Zooey: Adorable, fun and bubbly, she has no problem showing off her personality in the perfect spring look. In her performance as guest host on Saturday Night Live in February, the lively Deschanel rocked a bright red heart-printed mini dress.
If you don't have a dress, patterned denim can give your look that touch of spring that you've been searching for. With the jeans, put on a bright solid colored t-shirt.
Grab a pair of retro sunglasses, slide on some opened toe booties, and you will be good to go. The shoes may be a splurge, but every girl knows the importance of a good heel in order to pull together a great outfit, so just go for it.
