Zooey Deschanel, Hello Giggles founder, queen of adorkability, and everyone's favorite sentient glitter cloud, is set to be the next face of Pantene.
She will star in the new Beautiful Lengths campaign, which promotes charitable hair donation. The program, established in 2006, advocates women donating their hair to be turned into wigs for distribution to cancer patients at The American Cancer Society Wig Banks.
The actress is wide-eyed and hair-twirling in the ad, released by Pantene yesterday, managing to display her token quirk despite the print medium – though not quite to the extent of her Shake Rattle And Roll-and-tomato-soup Apple commercials.
Deschanel told Allure:
After I found out that I would be working with Pantene, I was doing research on the company and came across Beautiful Lengths and got really excited—I wanted to be a part of it. It's about getting people to donate their hair to make wigs for people who are going through chemotherapy, which really effects people's pride.
Lest you think that Ms. Deschanel will be lopping off her locks for charity, however, the star admitted that she can't make any drastic changes to her hair due to movie roles. Of her last major chop she said:
I haven't had one in a while because I have to keep my hair a certain length. So probably about 10 years ago. I cut it off right before college into a Louise Brooks bob.
Pics or it didn't happen, Z!
