Picking and choosing Emmy nominees, even thought it's pretend, is hard. Know what's harder? Presenting that in an easy-to-read format. And we've done both!
That's because it's that time of the year again! It's like holiday season for television and the people who love to watch television. Ahhh, Emmy bells are ringing! That's right, it's time to dissect every actors' performances from the past year and pick and choose the ones we hope get nominated for the 64th Annual Academy Awards for Television Arts & Sciences. Only people who love TV understand what a thrill this is.
Which is why Heba and I just had to pick our own nominees this year! And choose, we did. The following is a list of our dream nominees from the top categories of the Emmys. Now, we're not insane — some (or most) of these nominees will never be chosen, but we're dreaming. Anything can happen in our dreams. Some of these choices should have gotten recognition forever ago, some are real Emmy bait — hey, sometimes things are nominated for Emmys because they deserve to. And not because the voters are oblivious — and then there are a couple (or five) where you might think we're intoxicated. Dreams, people! We're dreaming. (Which also means we're not big on "rules.")
Also, yes, there may be some dream nominees of yours (or ones that seem so obvious) that are not on this list. Unfortunately, Heba and I don't watch everything on TV. Although, we really wish we could! So just add your dream nominees in the comments below!
Without further adieu, here is our list of nominees!
COMEDY: Lead Actress | Lead Actor | Supporting Actress | Supporting Actor | Comedy Series
DRAMA: Lead Actress | Lead Actor | Supporting Actress | Supporting Actor | Drama Series
Lead Actress in a Comedy
Christina Applegate, Up All Night

Christina Applegate is an INCREDIBLE actress who has proven her worth over the years and has been nominated before. But her shows are terribly underrated and so are her performances.
Courteney Cox, Cougar Town

Courteney Cox has never been nominated for an Emmy, can you imagine that? Not for Friends, not for Dirt, and not for Cougar Town. So this year, she really should get a nomination – just to show ABC what they've lost.
Zooey Deschanel, New Girl

Who's that girl? It's JESS! C'mon, how adorable has Zooey been over the last season? She deserves the recognition!
Laura Linney, The Big C

Like Christina Applegate, Linney's performance in The Big C has also been underrated.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep

Julia Louis-Dreyfus ain't one of the most Emmy-nominated actresses for nothin'! In Veep, she slips into her character, VPOTUS Selina Meyer, with absolute ease and portrays the hopeful yet underdog political head perfectly. Plus, anyone that has to speak that quickly on television should get nominated automatically.
Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation

It's impossible to fathom that a show can get a comedy from a character who is just being nice all the time. And yet, every episode, Amy Poehler delivers that and then some, blending comedy and heart so well, it's a shame she didn't get a win last year.
