Spot Review

For the man who can't be moved, the single since birth, the captive of the friendzoned or the lovers in love this movie shares lessons on that four letter word for just about anyone who possesses a heart opened or closed.

Upside

This is definitely not one of your conventional romcoms, hats off to writers Neustadter and Weber for this postmodern romance. The mapping of the rise and fall between Tom and Summer comes across honest and clean as the two leads showed off their chemistry all throughout the film.  Soundtrack is just solid. Also, fans of Zoey Deschanel and her piercing blue eyes will get their fill in this film.

Downside

The non-linear narrative of the film may get one annoyed as the events jump around days. As this is not a straightforward film, it's easy to get puzzled by the sequence of events. The story is delivered painfully true, after effects of watching may include feelings of confusion towards it.

 Verdict

Tired of the formula chick flick? Had enough of Hugh Grant plastered on your screen? Why not try and have a dose of this anti-romance for a change. Who knows, maybe you'll gain some tidbit on love or two. Nonetheless, it's guaranteed to leave the heart warm or (still) broken.
