What do Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Kris Jenner and I all have in common?

| Rita Wilson and Kris Jenner at The Canyon Club |
I'll get to that point. But first...driving through the sloping hills of the San Fernando Valley at sunset, I marveled at how much has changed in my life over the last two months. It's been a roller coaster ride with many highs, that continue to click higher still. And the few dips I've hit always find their way up again. A lovely set of circumstances led me to the Canyon Club where, during Rita Wilson's live concert I learned, up close, about a couple of different types of "Hollywood". One side of it I've slowly found myself coming into - hard work, passion, art and kindness. (Mine just doesn't have the money that that type of Hollywood has. Yet. ;)) Let's call that the Tom Hank's Hollywood. The other Hollywood, let's call it the Kardashian Hollywood, was very hot-to-trot and rather attention seeking. It's fame through money (and a sex tape) rather than through insanely hard work and a passion for art. Don't get me wrong, everyone in that room no matter their status had an amazing night. It's just that I find it so incredible how vastly different an experience can be just by moving fifteen feet to the other side of a room!

And between all of the celebrities were regular old couples and families. And me. Sitting by myself, beaming and laughing. The closest I got to celebrity status was when I was caught giggling and a woman came over to me
quipping, "Has anyone told you that you remind them of Zooey Deschanel?" In the midst of all of the laughter and sensory overload, I found myself quietly wondering how it was all going to turn out for me. Maybe I'll never have the money these celebrities have. But if I can have the passion, the love of family and love of art that Tom Hank's and Rita Wilson exuded in the room DESPITE all of the fame and fortune they'd acquired, I'll be one happy woman. Though. The money would be nice. COME ON!!! Like you wouldn't take it! A girl can dream!
And dream I did on the moonlit drive through the hills back to Hollywood. Goodness knows where all of these crazy adventures will lead...but with each new experience and every new and wonderful person that comes into my life, I am sure as hell going to enjoy the ride along the way!!
"I wondered about the explorers who'd sailed their ships to the end of the world. How terrified they must have been when they risked falling over the edge; how amazed to discover, instead, places they had seen only in their dreams." - Jodi Picoult
