Zooey Deschanel has a huge reason to celebrate! She is officially single again! Her divorce from Death Cab for Cutie vocalist Ben Gibbard has been finalized on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
The “New Girl” actress filed her divorce papers back in December 2011 and it took a year to process everything. But prior to her filing, she and Ben had already parted ways two months earlier. When news of their divorce first came out, the two did not talk much about the reason of their breakup.
Zooey did cite irreconcilable differences in the divorce papers she filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court.
They tied the knot in September 2009 and were together for almost three years. I think it’s a good thing they don’t have children who will be affected by this divorce.
Even though Zooey is officially single again, I don’t think many guys would have a chance with her since she only has eyes for screenwriter Jamie Linden at the moment. They’ve been spotted on dates a few times already.
