Five Reasons to Watch the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards ...

It's not as if you really need a reason to watch the Golden Globes. The hosts are hysterical. The performances are top-notch. And Rob Pattinson will be there. Besides, what else could you possibly be doing on a Sunday night? We've gone ahead and compiled five important reasons to tune in, in case you need additional motivation to finish your homework before 8 p.m. on January 13.

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are hosting! And they're hilarious.

This year, real-life best friends Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are taking over hosting duties, and if their hit sitcoms are any indication—Amy is nominated for Parks and Rec; Tina Fey is up for 30 Rock—the award show will be three very side-splitting hours of fun.

Funny girls will be out in full force.

In addition to Tina and Amy, many lady comedians will be in attendance at the Globes. Lena Dunham and Zooey Deschanel, two of the other funniest girls on TV, are both up for best performance by an actress in a comedy. But that's not all! Jennifer Lawrence is up for her comedic performance in Silver Linings Playbook, and though she's just as revered for her dramatic acting skills (see: The Hunger Games), the girl can crack jokes, as she proved during her People's Choice Awards acceptance.

Taylor Swift and Adele are up for original songs.

The Golden Globes are the coolest, because they bring together the best stars from movies and TV. But this year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association one-upped themselves by nominating both Taylor and Adele for best original song, ensuring that two of the best singers will also be in attendance. Though there are lots of great tunes on the bill, Taylor's Hunger Games track "Safe & Sound" and Adele's Skyfall single of the same name are excellent.

Animated films are cool again.

Think you're too old for cartoons? Think again. Brave, Frankenweenie, and Wreck-It Ralph are among the adorable animated feature films up for awards this year, so marathon your way through the clever kid flicks before Sunday evening and root for your favorite.

Don't even think about not watching the red carpet special.

The Golden Globes always bring out a glamorous crowd, and with Amanda Seyfried, Robert Pattinson, Jessica Alba, and Kristen Wiig confirmed as presenters, plus a lengthy list of notable nominees and two of the most buzzed-about hosts in years, this year's red carpet is bound to be red-hot.

The 70th Golden Globes air Sunday at 8 p.m. on NBC.
