Michelle Obama Rocks Ruby-Red at the Inauguration Ball
The online community is abuzz today in discussion over the red, velvet and chiffon gown Michelle Obama wore Monday night during the Inauguration Ball. What’s surprised the fashion community most was Michelle’s choice to wear another custom-made creation by Taiwanese born and New York City based fashion designer, Jason Wu. The First Lady wore a white gown by Wu for Obama’s Inauguration in 2009 and her choice shot the designer to fashion fame overnight.
Wu collaborated with jeweller Kimberly McDonald to give the gown extra sparkle for the special occasion. The flowing halter-style dress featured a jewelled neckline decorated with diamonds.
With the red trend also appearing on many actresses at the Golden Globes last week, including Claire Danes, Zooey Deschanel and Jennifer Lawrence, there’s no doubt the hue is ruling the fashion world this month.
