Just a month after the HBO biopic Behind the Candelabra sparked renewed interest in the fabulous 70s entertainer Liberace, his formerly opulent mansion has returned to market following foreclosure. The flamboyant star purchased the 15,000-square-foot mansion in 1974 and set about outfitting it in his trademark over-the-top style. He lived here, in part at least, until his death in 1987 and his namesake foundation sold the property two years later. At the height of the market, the two-bed, ten-bath spread fetched $ 3.7M, but the real estate bust landed the property in the hands of the bank, who is now trying to sell the faded palace for just $ 523K, provided the buyer pays all cash. Highlights are few and far between, but evidence of Liberace’s profligate ways can still be seen in the mirrored bar, etched glass wall panels, a commercial kitchen, marble-lined master bathroom, and garish red carpeting.
