Jameis Winston's Heisman Stock Stalls with Performance vs. Nevada

Jameis Winston isn’t perfect, but he’s pretty damn close.

The highly touted Florida State quarterback lived up to the expectations again, completing 15-of-18 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns in the Seminoles’ 62-7 victory over Nevada. Winston did have his first interception of the season, but he made up for that with another score on the ground.

Winston’s performance was a solid building block after he exploded onto the national scene in his season debut. The redshirt freshman was remarkable against Pittsburgh, racking up 356 yards and four touchdowns on 25-of-27 passing.

Winston’s second game wasn’t quite as eye-popping, and with the amazing games from quarterbacks across the nation (Johnny Manziel, Marcus Mariota, A.J. McCarron), he won’t gain any ground in the Heisman race.

However, Winston’s consistency and efficiency should be very encouraging for FSU fans. He’s still in the thick of the Heisman race, and with a relatively easy upcoming schedule, look for him to climb the ladder over the next few weeks.
