For the second time in two weeks the Baylor Bears have recorded their most points in a game since 1929.
Get to know the name Lache Seastrunk because he’s the man in large part behind the Bears’ 69 and 70 point totals the first two weeks of the season.
Seastrunk and the Bears thumped Wofford 69-3 in Week 1 behind Seastrunk’s 111 yards and two touchdowns on just 11 carries. He was given the chance to carry the ball 17 times in Week 2 against Buffalo, which the Heisman sleeper turned into 150 yards and three scores as the Bears rolled over the Bulls 70-13.
The former Oregon Ducks back should not be shocking anyone at this point with his game-breaking speed and elusiveness. Last season he put up 1,012 yards rushing and seven scores on just 131 attempts in what has proved to be a warning shot for the rest of the NCAA to heed.
Apparently Wofford and Buffalo didn’t get the memo. As good as Georgia’s Todd Gurley and other running backs have looked early in the season, not many can compete with the ludicrous numbers Seastrunk is putting up:
Against Buffalo Seastrunk recorded his school-record sixth consecutive 100-yard rushing game—before halftime.
Baylor’s offense needed 11 minutes to put up 576 yards of offense on its way to a total of 781. That’s without Seastrunk playing an entire half of football.
Baylor will elect to stop preserving Seastrunk’s strength and unleash him on the Big 12 and others beginning in October when the schedule starts to get serious with a game against West Virginia.
At that point, Seastrunk will be a national name and may have already solidified his Heisman status. At this pace, it’s just a matter of time.
