Middle Ground
Not mini, not maxi, not knee, it’s midi time. The big trend this season for hemlines is somewhere between ankle and shin, and though that sounds more Gray’s Anatomy than we’d like for our fashion trendspotting, this new length is new girl approved by Zooey Deschanel at a recent event.

While this longer skirt length can be deemed matronly, it’s all about how you wear it. Coming in different shapes, from sleek pencil to floaty fluidity and flared out frock (like ZD), this trend has a look for everyone. Runways from The Row, to Lanvin, and many in between showed how versatile this length can be for any occasion.

Get this look in whichever style you choose by opting for the most flattering shape for your body. Zooey’s flared out, vintage inspired dress is very suited to her look and hourglass, while a fitted pencil skirt to above the ankles will slim the line of a pear shape. A black drapy dress like the Lanvin runway will flatter anyone!
