Zooey Deschanel, Joan Jett, Leona Lewis Among Stars Asking ...

When you learned about the cruelty inflicted annually on billions of farm animals, “What Did You Do?” That’s the question Farm Sanctuary, the largest farm animal rescue and protection organization in the U.S., is asking millions of people around the world through a new campaign that boldly asserts that future generations will ask us the same questions about factory farming cruelty that have been asked of past generations about slavery and the oppression of women.

Beginning on September 23rd and counting down through “World Day for Farmed Animals” on October 2nd, this unprecedented fundraising and educational campaign will activate people everywhere to help farm animals—and avoid future condemnation— by joining celebrity supporters including MAYIM BIALIK, LEONA LEWIS, RUSSELL SIMMONS, EMILY DESCHANEL, KEVIN NEALON, FRED WILLARD, SHANNON ELIZABETH, and JOAN JETT, to raise awareness about the abuses of factory farming and critical funds to help its animal victims.

“From YouTube videos, to public education campaigns, to major network news coverage of the latest undercover investigations, we’ve reached a critical point in history where the cruel treatment of animals on factory farms is no longer a secret,” says Gene Baur, president and co-founder of Farm Sanctuary. “It’s now up to us to decide what our response will be to an industry that inflicts unthinkable pain and suffering on 9 billion animals a year. When future generations look back on this moment in time, they will wonder, ‘What Did You Do?’ when you learned about this animal cruelty.”
