We Can't Do That Anymore | Blog In My Own Eye

Be objective, that is.

We’re totally incapable of it. And that’s just fine with us.

It’s probably impossible to be totally objective anyway, even if you’re from the planet Vulcan, so why even try anymore?

We’ll just see things the way we want to, and anyone who disagrees with us is plain wrong and stupid for being that wrong.

There’s no point in trying to see things from another point of view — which might be valuable and illuminating. But we doubt it. How could anything that disagrees with us have any value? What a waste of time and brain cells. No. No way. Besides, that might mean we were wrong about something.

It doesn’t matter what. Politics. Religion. Politics in religion or religion in politics. Sports loyalties. Brand loyalties. Loyalties to contestants on reality game shows. Important crap like that.

No, we’re right about everything and God forbid that we should have to re-examine anything we think or believe or have pledged or lives to or made a careless comment about on a Facebook post that no one will remember 24 hours from now.

We’re happy being sold out to subjectivity, which is just a fancy multisyllabic word for “self.”

We are satisfied being sold out to self.

We’re not going to even try to look at something from the viewpoint of another human being, because, let’s face it, we all know what rotters and idiots THEY are.

Sure, it’s gonna make it hard for us to put into practice some of the advice given by Jesus.

You know, that “do unto others” stuff, because it’s really hard to do unto others as you would have them do unto you if you don’t have a clue what it is they want you to do for them, but who really cares? That’s their problem.

Just let them be wrong and miserable and hell bound. That’s their choice, and they made it because they’re stupid and wrong.

Oh, I suppose it’s possible that I’m being too generous using the word “we.” But it’s hard to believe that there could be very many people out there who are so stupid that they don’t agree with me about this.

And if there are … well, why are they wasting time reading what should have been obvious?

Why am I wasting my time writing to them?

I’m just not gonna do that anymore.
