Elf | The Society For Film

Elf

Will Ferrel is the main reason to see this charming, harmless Christmas tale. Will Ferrel plays an adopted buy, raised amongst Santa’s elves in the North Pole, who heads to New York to find his estranged father. Jon Favreau directs a strong ensemble, with James Caan as Ferrel’s father, Zooey Deschanel as the love interest and Peter Dinklage as a gun-for-hire children’s storybook writer.

Elf never really aspires to more than being a funny, kind, family sort of Christmas film and taken in this spirit, so to speak, it’s a decent bit of fun.
