With a penchant for blunt haircuts and peter-pan collars, Alexa Chung has helped fill many a fashion page and street style blog, so it came as a surprise when she told Grazia "I don't really fit into the American ideal of the dolly bird of shiny floor TV. They are always telling me I am so 'kooky' and 'quirky.'" Alexa, "quirky" is a compliment now, thanks to Zooey Deschanel and Tina Fey. But we totally get how it might feel weird to be singled out, so here are four tips to help Alexa fit in right here in America.

1. The Second Mad Men Line at Banana Republic: If you're going to start dressing like an American, best to dress like one from 60 some odd years ago.

2. Spring Shoes: Alexa's not a fan of heels, she tells Grazia, but Americans love flats, too! And there's so many good ones this season. Here are a few from beloved American brand here and Loeffler Randal with just enough quirk to keep Alexa feeling at home.

3. Ball Park Franks: In the article, Alexa admits that while in US she missed kedgeree, a dish that mixes boiled rice, haddock, and curry powder (according to Wikipedia, that is—we'd never heard of it). But there's something wonderfully American about surrendering all knowledge of what's in your food and sloshing a meal down with overpriced beer. If you can do all of this while cheering for the Yankees at the ballpark, then congratulations, you're an American.

4. Bein' Quirky: If none of these work, we guess Alexa has no choice but to embrace the kook and make a lunch date with Zooey Deschanel, quirky home girl of the US of A. Get a head start with these tips: "Bein' Quirky With Zooey Deschanel"
