While his period dramedy Pirate Radio didn't live up to his excellent debut Love Actually, Richard Curtis is set to get behind the camera again soon with smaller budget effort. Variety reports we now know the lead of this upcoming sci-fi film, titled About Time.
500 Days of Summer and New Girl star Zooey Deschanel is set to team with Domhnall Gleeson, who you've seen in True Grit, Never Let Me Go and most famously as Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter series. With a script form Curtis himself, it will follow Tim (Gleeson), who figures out the power of time-travel runs in his family and he begins to use it to brighten up his life, focusing on his new love interest Mary (Deschanel).
Deschanel hasn't officially signed onto the project, but it is between this and Fox's He's F-cking Perfect, and she is reportedly more interested in the former. I've been looking forward to see Curtis return with a new feature, after last working on War Horse in just a writing aspect, and I can certainly see chemistry between this pair. I'm also curious to see how the time travel is implemented in this film, but imagine it'll just be a gimmick to focus on the love story, which I don't have a problem with when it comes to Curtis' past work.
