The Comedy Awards, dedicated to celebrating all that is funny, is proud to announce a hard-hitting slate of 2012 nominees.

It's going to be quite the showdown this year, as comedy's heavyweights square off in stacked categories. The "Comedy Series" category comprises an impressive roster, with mega-hits 30 Rock and Modern Family, both with 5 nominations, vying against fan favorites like Parks And Recreation (with 3 nominations) and Curb Your Enthusiasm (4 nods).

In the "Comedy Film" category, theater hits like Bridesmaids (5 total nominations), Crazy, Stupid, Love. (5 nominations), Midnight in Paris (4 noms), Horrible Bosses (4 noms) and the Academy Award-winning The Artist (3 nominations) are poised to duke it out for the title.

All nominees were selected by the Board of Directors, comprised of comedy industry luminaries such as Carol Burnett, Conan O'Brien, Joan Rivers, and Lily Tomlin. An invitation-only body of comedy writers, producers, directors and other industry movers and shakers will select the winners.

This year, you can get your own piece of the voting action right here on thecomedyawards.com when you tell us who you think should win "Breakout Performer of The Year."

So, who will emerge triumphant in the 2012 Comedy Awards battle royale? You'll just have to watch as it all goes down on Sunday, May 8 on Comedy Central.
