While listening to M. Ward's 7th studio album, A Wasteland Companion, I started wondering what the M stood for. Could it be mellow like the disc itself? Or how about melancholy like the vibe he sort of gives off? How about money like most of his other albums? That sounds better. Upon further review, the M is for Matthew and he puts the M in She & Him. I prefer M. Ward when he's backing Zooey Deschanel, or when he's rocking out with Monsters of Folk, but I'm also down with his solo stuff. Miss Deschanel appears on two Wasteland tracks and adds a dose of lovely to each song. I would have a very difficult time not hooking up with a girl that I made music with. Especially a cute, primitive girl like Zooey. Isn't that like a rule or something? If you're a guy in a band and the only other member is a girl, it's fair to say you should be banging. Why not? Go B's.
