Zooey Deschanel, for the first time, earns an Emmy nod for her role in Fox's "New Girl" in the Primetime Emmy category. She is competing for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series award. The 32-year-old actress has dreamed of this moment since she was 2.
Upon learning of her Emmy nomination, Deschanel feels "honored" knowing that it is part of her dream and ambition once she pursued acting. But she does not allow herself to be overwhelmed by this recognition, noting that this is an "exciting" moment in her career.
The actress also shared her excitement for the recent Emmy nomination via her Twitter account wherein she congratulated Lena Dunham. The latter is a fellow Emmy nominee for Lead Actress for her role in HBO's "Girls".
Zooey Deschanel is not the only "New Girl" actor to be vying for an Emmy award, however. Her co-star Max Greenfield is also up for the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
