Now that school is starting again and the smell of campaign promises is in the air, there can’t be many more days of scorching temperatures and dry heat left, right? and what better way to forget your troubles with the weather than by relaxing in the mountains above Park City with a free outdoor movie screening?
The Sundance Institute has mined a true gem from its massive catalog for the final screening in this year’s outdoor summer series: “(500) Days of Summer.” The upbeat (and occasionally downbeat), sunny (but sometimes stormy) romantic comedy tracks failed architect and greeting card writer Tom Hansen’s pursuit of free-spirited co-worker Summer Finn.
The film throws several curveballs as it retraces the birth (and death?) of romantic love between Tom and Summer, and leads Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel contribute inspired performances. (Watch for an early appearance by Chloe Grace Moretz at Tom’s relationship-savvy sis, Rachel.)
The screening is at 9 p.m. tonight on the lawn at Park City’s Canyons Resort.
