5 FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MOVIES | I HEART MOVIES TO

We’re less than 10 days away from Christmas! Isn’t that exciting? In my spare time for the holidays I like to sit back and watch Christmas-themed movies. It cheers me up and fills my heart with warmth. Here are some movies I like to watch during the holidays. I couldn’t possibly be in charge of picking only a top 5, so these are just five movies I enjoy watching. No specific order, just movies I’d advise for all of you to watch over your holiday break.

5. Elf

Starring Will Ferrell, Ed Asner, Zooey Deschanel and James Caan. I really can’t think of a reason to not like it. It has to be one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time. You’ve got Will Ferrell portraying an elf from the North Pole when he’s really a human (I’m guessing somewhere in his late 20s or early 30s). He sets out on a journey to find his birth father, Walter Hobbs (James Caan).

4.The Polar Express

The movie is filled with imaginative scenes. At the beginning of the movie it’s not said, but implied, that the boy doesn’t believe in Santa Claus. Throughout the movie there are eventful scenes that build up the boy’s beliefs and by the end, he’s a full-eyed believer when he gets to see Santa Claus. He also receives a sleigh bell from the jolly man.

3. The Christmas Shoes

One of the saddest movies I’ve ever laid my eyes upon. But it’s one of those sad movies where it may be sad, but you have this feeling it should win some kind of movie award. Maggie Andrews (Kimberly Williams) is paralyzed, and won’t make it into the new year. Her son, Nathan (Max Morrow), doesn’t give up. He’s short-changed and starts collecting cans to purchase his mom the most beautiful pair of Christmas shoes. While another character, Robert Layton (Rob Lowe) has promised to go see his daughter at the Christmas play. Why is that important? Go find out.

2. Unaccompanied Minors

This is one of the funniest Christmas movies. Spencer Davenport, Charlie Goldfinch, Grace Conrad, Donna Malone, “Beef” Wellington are all unaccompanied minors flying during the holidays. The mischievousness that these five kids get in to over the holidays is enough for me in a lifetime! Oliver Porter (Lewis Black) is the owner of the airport and he gets trapped at the airport with everyone else as his vacation to Hawaii is cancelled due to the blizzard.

1. Home Alone

I almost forgot about this film! It’s a classic to watch this movie (or series) around the holidays. Nothing more heart-warming than watching a little boy defend himself from two fully-grown men who try to rob and kill him. Macaulay Culkin may have been famous prior to this movie, but little Kevin McAllister must have bumped up Culkin’s street-cred in the movie business. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, is the next-best film in the series.

All right everyone that’s it! Two more movies to definitely check out are the original Miracle on 34th Street and Four Christmases with Vince Vaughan and Reese Witherspoon. They’re great films! I’ve seen Miracle on 34th Street about five times this week. Thank you, AMC!

One last thing, The Christmas Shoes is a part of a series as well! Next is The Christmas Blessing, followed by The Christmas Hope.

Enjoy your holidays!
