With the Oscar nominations arriving later this week and the Golden Globes being handed out soon after, it’s time for the TV industry to flail its hands in the air and scream, “Look at me! Look at me!”
On January 7, the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour featured a FOX Comedy Panel with a handful of the network’s stars including Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project), Nat Faxon (Ben and Kate), and New Girl breakout star Zooey Deschanel.
If you’ve never attended a TCA panel, let me tell you, it’s highly entertaining. Not so much for the talent onstage, but for the members of the press that spew the most random questions to the stars. Today’s Comedy Panel did not disappoint, with the first Q thrown out towards Zooey. The reporter asked the origin of her name.
“I’m named after Franny and Zooey and my last name is French,” Deschanel answered. Apparently one of the TCA members in attendance has not heard of J.D. Salinger. At least – AT LEAST – that reporter did not reference a certain teen show that starred Jamie Lynn Spears. We all win.
