I can't say that this episode of New Girl was quite as funny as some of the ones in recent weeks, but it was still funny enough to make me laugh out loud quite a bit.  The most interesting part of the episode, to me, had to do with Nick going to see Jess' OB/GYN friend since he didn't have insurance and had been hurt by Jess during a game of football.  It was a bit of a sour note for a comedy to bring up the idea that Nick may have cancer.  I know it's a possibility and all, but maybe it would have been more prudent to have him have some crazy medical issue that couldn't be explained.  That may have been funnier and not brought the gang to have to go to the hospital to find out if Nick has cancer and is dying.

However, if he hadn't gone to the hospital, we wouldn't have been able to see Winston, Schmidt, Cece, and Jess chip in to pay for Nick's medical expenses since he didn't have the insurance, or the money for that matter, to pay it himself out of pocket.  It showed just how good of friends they all are and how much they all truly care about each other.

I read somewhere that Nick and Jess (Jake Johnson and Zooey Deschanel) have so much chemistry in real life that they are sometimes told to tone it down on the show.  It sure came across in this episode.  While he was drunk, he even told Jess that he's really glad she's around.  He might just mean it in the respect that they are friends, but I'm sure he thinks of her as more than that at least once in a while when they have something happen between them that forges a deeper connection.

Otherwise in the episode, Winston dealt with the news that his car may have driven its last mile.  Despite his fond memories of the car, he decides to leave it at the hospital after Nick gets released.  It was kind of like one big cleansing ritual, with Nick realizing that he doesn't have cancer, and Winston realizing that he needs to move on from his car.

It was also good to see Schmidt and Cece together again in this episode.  They seem to really have some sort of connection with each other, and I hope it continues on.  It will definitely be hilarious (I'm sure!) to see the gang react to the news that Schmidt and Cece are together in that way.

What did you think of last week's episode?  Are you looking forward to the next one?
