Almost Famous | Nodmadic Lyricist

Now, this isn’t necessarily about a band. Its about a motion picture. This is one of my all time favorite films. If you are a music lover and admirer like myself and have yet to see this movie, YOU NEED TO.

I remember when I first saw this. After watching it for the first time, I wanted to watch it again and again.

The theme of the movie is simply this: someone who loves music simply because he has a love of music.

(does that even make sense?)

This is a Cameron Crowe film with an outstanding cast. From an early Rainn Wilson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Zooey Deschanel to Kate Hudson. The film is built around Patrick Fugit’s character William Miller and his love of music. He ends up going on tour with a band, Stillwater, whose frontman is played by Jason Lee and Billy Crudup as the lead guitarist. William ends up landing himself a gig with writing for Rolling Stone magazine. And is introduced to Penny Lane, who, in my opinion is one of the greatest characters in all of cinema history.

The movie soundtrack features lots of classic rock, from Led Zepplin to Cat Stevens as well as music from the fictional band Stillwater, which, Jason Lee has a pretty great voice for a 1970′s rock band.

I won’t spoil the ending, but, its an overall fantastic film, trust me.

“….It’s all happening.”
