‘New Girl’ producers reveal what Prince will be up to in the episode airing after the Super Bowl.

Prince has already performed at the Super Bowl but now he’s set to show off his talents with a game-day appearance on “New Girl” that Sunday.
And for those wondering what the legendary musician will be up to on the kooky Fox sitcom, executive producer Brett Baer revealed to E! News that he will be trying to help Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) work out the kinks in their romance.
“He’s right in the middle of trying to help [Nick and Jess] work through some stuff and it’s amazing,” Baer tells us. “His thing was all about getting to Jess and trying to bring out this inner part of her that hadn’t been brought to the forefront. The word ‘hip tips’ was sort of the thing. He put it, ‘I think I can give her some hip tips!’ ”
Executive producer Dave Finkel added, “He said, ‘I want to be involved in the show in a real way and I want to help Nick and Jess with their relationship.’ ”
This is not the first time a chart-topper has made a cameo on the show. Last season, Taylor Swift appeared on the series. And from the sounds of it, Prince courted the show’s producers to nab his upcoming guest spot.
“He contacted us last season because he’s a huge fan,” Baer said. “He knows everything about the show. He contacted Zooey and Hannah [Simone] directly and asked to do the show. We couldn’t work it out last year. But when the Super Bowl thing was floated, it was perfect timing.”
Finkel noted that fans won’t be disappointed by Prince’s comedic timing during the episode. “He’s genuinely funny,” Finkel revealed. “He’s got a very quiet, wry sense of humor but he kills. There’s a moment in the episode where he’s sitting in between Zooey and Jake on a bench. And it’s a silent beef and he’s just looking between them trying to figure them out. And it’s hilarious. He has crazy comic instincts.”
According to Billboard, the episode will be about Jess getting invited to a party hosted by the star. Her pals then try and get their hands on an invite as well. In addition to “New Girl,” a new episode of the Golden Globe-winning “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” will also air that night.
While we don’t know which two teams will take the field when the Super Bowl airs on February 2, Bruno Mars will headline the halftime show and will be joined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The 48th Super Bowl airs live from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
