Hood Pranks is a homemade spin off of Ashton Kutcher's "Punk'd." It takes place in New Jersey and is hilarious. Their motto is "This is not Hollywood, this is HollyHood!" They have a team of "goons" and "comedians" that the leader calls his "Hoodlums." They play mostly violent based jokes on unsuspecting victims. It isn't apparent if it is the actually prank that is what is funny, or how they do it. They take derogatory stereotypical "Hood" situations and play them out dramatically, using talk of guns, physical violence, and drugs in most scenarios. Is it the ridiculousness of how they play out these pranks or the actually idea of that prank that keeps viewers coming back? Most viewers don't care why they think it's funny, as long the creators of Hood Pranks keep making videos. Currently, their website is under construction, but you can like their Facebook page to see more videos and behind-the-scene action.

Film:

"Wristcutters: A Love Story":

Don't be scared off by the name. It is not a tale about two over-dramatic teenage emo-kids. This is the story of a guy who kills himself, only to find out the other side is just like earth, but worse. It is hotter, he has a worse job, less money, and doesn't know anyone. The majority of the movie is spent on his journey to find his ex-girl friend. While in a store one day, he finds out she "offed" herself about a month after he did. He is traveling with his only friend and a girl they picked up hitchhiking who is "looking for the people in charge." They travel together in what looks like a desert leading to nowhere. It is directed Goran Dukic, and based on Etgar Keret's short story "Kneller's Happy Campers."

Website:

"Twofoods.com":

With summer just around the corner, gyms are jam packed.  People are trying to work off that winter fat and get back into shape. Getting into shape is more than just daily gym rituals though, it's about eating right. And TwoFoods makes it easier. It lets you compare almost every food side by side. Say it's lunchtime and someone is thinking, 'Au Bon Pain mac-and-cheese or a garden salad?' Well, just type in each food on the home page and it will bring up all of the nutrient facts of each choice. The idea is not only will the user be deterred from the more fattening food just by seeing how bad it is, but also by seeing how much better your other option is they will be more likely to choose it more often. It is such a simple and easy to read website, too. Keep a look out for the speculated "app," and get your comparisons even quicker.

Television:

"New Girl":

Who doesn't love Zooey Deschanel? Whether she is putting out a quirky Christmas Album or starring along Jim Carry in "Yes Man," she is constantly stealing the hearts of everyone who sees her perform. She is now working on a new project, "New Girl." It's a TV series where she plays a quirky bubbly girl who loves to sing, Jessica "Jess" Day. She lives with three guys, all of which are humorous characters. Schmidt is one of her roommates and the "douche-bag" of the group. He is the butt of many jokes because of how odd his character is. Jess just got over a bad break up in this first episode and the guys find themselves helping her get over, even when they just want her to get out. In fact, the only reason why they initially let her live with them is because she mentioned her best friend "CeCe" is a model and always has so many angry and hungry model friends around. It's one of the most hilarious shows on air right now. It's on Fox every Tuesday at 9 p.m.

Music:

Swizzz and Hopsin

Hopsin is a 27 year old rapper from Panorama, L.A., who is most known for his wild image and struggle against main stream rap. He relentlessly attacks the "dying rap industry" and will call out rappers. In his song "Sag My Pants," Hopsin calls out Drake, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Soulja Boy, and Lupe Fiasco within thirty seconds. Hopsin is self-produced through his company "Funk Volume." Also signed to his label is Swizzz, a young L.A. college dropout rapper who is known for his high pitch voice. That aside, Swizzz is noted for his passion and dedication to his music. Swizzz also mainly attacks the rap industry and other rappers. He his most notable for his song "Lucifer Effect," which is a very bold attack on the entire rap industry; while in the process also calling out other rappers, such as Soulja Boy and Young Joc. Both Hopsin and Swizzz are highly regarded for speaking the truth and having no filter; they rap about what is real and happening; not the typical "drugs, money, sex, and being hard."   If you want to hear true, actual good rap, give these guys a listen and really try to interpret the meaning in their lyrics. It isn't too hard to decipher, they generally are very up front with their messages.
