Design :

Normally I tune out Budget announcements...lets face it, as two professionals without any kids we often don't get to benefit from budget announcements.

That all changed yesterday!

In an effort to give a boost to the building sector, the Canadian Federal Government is offering home owners a tax credit for home renovations worth up to $1,350 . Long and short of this is that Canadian homeowners will be able to claim the 15-per-cent credit on renovation work worth more than $1,000 and up to a maximum $10,000 for any home improvements, save for routine maintenance, between now and Feb. 1, 2010.

Yeah...$1350 isn't a tonne of money...but we'll take it! It's just about the only tax break we ever get. You can read all about it here. The following can all be claimed:

- cost of labour and professional services

- building materials, fixtures

- equipment rentals

- permits
